A wet day with the promise of fine weather lead to a division to head to Cromwell for a few days… that was our thoughts yesterday as we packed up (well pulled the door mat in lol). I’d spent time washing our Moho to get the past six months travelling off her and was really hoping that the roads would at least be dry for the trip up the road from Otautau in Southland…. nah! They were wet and full of trucks throwing muddy spray up over any vehicles passing by them in any direction… if it was covid instead of muddy spray we’d all be goosed. Arrived at Burton’s Creek, Clyde early evening and with only two other vehicles there it was no worries finding a spot at the lakes edge. Morning has arrived and it’s -1 degree C. Our intention is to ride the new cycle trail this morning however, as we look out of our cosy Moho at the fog and frost, the bravado and excitement we had yesterday was under pressure and I guess a few kinks in our armour was leading to a reconsideration “Is it really worth it?, maybe tomorrow when the northerly arrives.” But in the meantime let’s see how the morning sunrise works out.
